About Holdfast
An owner who started managing, not a manager who went looking for owners.
It started with one house
In 2020 I bought a short term rental. I wanted to run it myself, so I went all the way in on learning how it actually works. Not the version in the courses, the real thing. Pricing, licensing, turnovers, the messages at eleven at night, the difference between a house that books and a house that sits.
What I found out fairly quickly is that doing it properly, for one property, is a full time job. Most owners discover the same thing. The listing goes live, the first season goes fine, and then it becomes clear that the difference between an average year and a good one is a hundred small decisions nobody has time to make.
Ten years in insurance first
Before any of this I spent a decade in the insurance industry. That background is more useful here than it sounds. Insurance is a business about what happens when things go wrong, who is responsible, and whether the paperwork was done properly beforehand. That is a fair description of short term rental licensing, inspections and the moment a guest damages something.
It is not just me any more
Maria runs the day to day. She is the reason a turnover happens on time and a maintenance problem gets picked up the same morning rather than the following week.
Pricing is a full time job held by one person whose entire brief is what the houses charge. Not a rate set when a listing went live and revisited when something looked wrong, but somebody in the data every day, making changes.
That is the part most owners cannot replicate on their own, and it is usually where the fee pays for itself.
What that means for your house
Holdfast exists because I went looking for someone to do this for my own property and did not find what I wanted. So the company is built the way I would have wanted it done for me.
Your house is treated like ours. That is not a slogan; it is the only standard that makes sense when the alternative is treating twenty-five houses like inventory.
You still get to use it. It is your house. Block the dates you want and use it whenever you like. That is the whole point of owning the thing, and any arrangement that quietly discourages it has the relationship backwards.
You keep everything you have built. Your listing, your reviews, your Superhost status. We work underneath your account rather than moving your property onto ours, so if you ever leave, you leave with all of it.
The goal is straightforward: earn your house as much as it can reasonably earn, without you having to think about it, and without you giving up ownership of the thing you built to get there.
