Saturday 10 to Monday 12 October
Columbus Day weekend
A federal holiday on the Monday makes it a three night weekend. On the Saturday, Dania Beach holds its Oktoberfest Beerfest at City Hall and Deerfield Beach its Fall Festival at Pioneer Park. Check that the minimum stay allows a Friday to Monday booking.

Tuesday 13 to Sunday 18 October
Buena Vista Social Club at the Broward Center
A six day Broadway run in downtown Fort Lauderdale, with evening shows from the Tuesday. The weeknights are where it makes the difference.
Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October
Las Olas Art Fair
The 39th year of the fair on Las Olas. The same Saturday, Pompano Beach holds Caribbean Fest at Community Park from 5:00PM to 10:00PM, and the Riverwalk Fall Festival runs downtown from 12:00PM to 4:00PM.

Wednesday 28 October to Sunday 1 November
Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show
The biggest week of the autumn in Fort Lauderdale. The show opens on a Wednesday, so the nights before the weekend matter as much as the weekend itself.

Saturday 31 October
Wicked Manors in Wilton Manors
The Halloween street party on Wilton Drive, 6:00PM to 11:00PM, on the same weekend as the boat show. Two reasons to visit on one weekend.

Tuesday 20 October
Broward tourist development tax return
The return for September is delinquent if it is not postmarked by the 20th, and the county expects one even for a month with no tax collected. A late return carries a minimum $50 penalty.
