It's 4:00PM. Someone has the grill going, two people are arguing over air hockey, and the rest of the group is in the pool. Nobody is in a hotel tower across town. That's the reason to rent a house. Below are seven houses in Fort Lauderdale and beyond. Each sleeps 8 to 12 and has a pool in its own backyard. We list the beds room by room and the minimum stays, so you can match the house to the group before you book.

Check-in at all seven is 4:00PM. Checkout is 10:00AM or 11:00AM, depending on the house.
The houses
6 Bed Beach House: sleeps 12
- 6 bedrooms, 4 baths. It's the only house we have that fits 12.
- Beds: one room with a king and a queen, four rooms with a king, and a bunk room with two bunk beds.
- Heated saltwater pool, pool table and ping pong.
- Beach access. A 6-passenger golf cart is available to rent.
- The person who books must stay at the house.
- Check-in 4:00PM, checkout 10:00AM.
Mangrove Manor: sleeps 10
- 4 bedrooms, 3 baths.
- Beds: a king, two queens, a room with two singles, and a sofa bed.
- Oversized pool, hot tub and a grill.
- Pets are welcome.
- 4-night minimum. The person who books must stay at the house.
- Check-in 4:00PM, checkout 11:00AM.
Beach Pop House: sleeps 8
- 4 bedrooms, 3 baths.
- Beds: three kings and a bunk bed.
- Each bedroom is themed after a different singer.
- Heated private pool, hot tub and pool table, steps from the sand.
- Check-in 4:00PM, checkout 10:00AM.
Cypress Cove: sleeps 8
- 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, almost 2,000 sq ft.
- Beds: two kings, two queens and a sofa bed.
- Heated private pool and a grill.
- A screened patio with a dining lounge and a smart TV.
- Check-in 4:00PM, checkout 11:00AM.
Casa Pura Vida: sleeps 8
- 4 bedrooms, 3 baths.
- Beds: three kings, plus a room with a single and a bunk.
- Heated pool, hot tub, pool table, grill and a covered dining area.
- The pool, hot tub and patio close at 10:00PM and reopen at 7:00AM.
- 3-night minimum.
- Check-in 4:00PM, checkout 11:00AM.
The Game House: sleeps 8
- 4 bedrooms, 2 baths.
- Beds: two kings, a queen, and a room with two singles.
- Game room with air hockey.
- Fenced backyard with a heated pool, sun loungers, a grill and outdoor dining.

The Fairway: sleeps 8
- 4 bedrooms, 2 baths.
- Beds: a king, two queens and a double.
- Heated private pool and a grill.
- Pets are welcome. About 5 minutes from the airport.
- 2-night minimum.
- Check-in 4:00PM, checkout 10:00AM.
How to pick the right house
- Count the beds, not the "sleeps" number. A sofa bed counts toward the guest total, but most adults won't want to spend a week on one. If every adult needs a real bed, use the room-by-room lists above.
- Count the bathrooms. Eight people sharing 2 baths will feel it every morning. The 6 Bed Beach House has 4 baths. Mangrove Manor, Beach Pop House, Cypress Cove and Casa Pura Vida each have 3.
- Check the outdoor hours. If your group plans to be outside late, look for a curfew before you book. Casa Pura Vida's pool and patio close at 10:00PM.
- Want a heated pool? Six of the seven have one. Mangrove Manor's pool is not heated.
- Bringing a dog? Mangrove Manor and The Fairway both take pets.
- Short trip? The 6 Bed Beach House, Beach Pop House, Cypress Cove and The Game House take one-night stays.
